Your Massachusetts automobile policy is made up of twelve coverage options. These twelve coverage options include four compulsory, or mandatory, coverages and eight optional coverages.
Bodily Injury to Others
This part of your policy provides coverage for expenses related to the injury or death of the driver or occupants of another vehicle or a pedestrian when you are found legally liable for the accident.
Personal Injury Protection
In the event you and/or your passengers are hurt in an accident, this coverage provides for your medical bills plus related expenses like income continuation.
Bodily Injury Caused by an Uninsured Auto
This part of your policy provides coverage for medical expenses if you’re in an accident where the other driver is at fault and doesn’t have any insurance or a hit-and-run situation.
Damage to Someone Else’s Property
This part of your policy provides coverage for expenses related to the damage of another person’s property when an accident is your fault. Coverage is included, but not limited to vehicles, homes, buildings and other structures.
Optional Insurance Coverages:
Optional Bodily Injury to Others
This coverage pays for damages to people injured or killed in an accident if you, a household member or someone else using your auto with your consent is found legally liable for an accident. Unlike the Compulsory part, this coverage does provide coverage for injuries to guest occupants and for accidents occurring outside of Massachusetts.
This part of your insurance policy provides coverage for medical or funeral expenses if you and/or your passengers are hurt in an accident.
This part of your insurance policy provides coverage for expenses to repair or replace your vehicle when damaged in an accident in which you are found legally liable. You will usually see a deductible for this coverage, or the amount of the damage you are responsible for covering (ex: $300, $500, $1,000).
This part of your insurance policy will provide coverage in some situations for direct and accidental damage to your auto caused by a collision. Coverage is only provided for multiple car accidents in which the driver of the auto we are covering was no more than 50% at fault.
This part of your policy provides coverage for expenses to repair or replace your vehicle that’s been damaged in situations like fire, theft and vandalism. This coverage also allows for glass repair and replacement. Similar to Collision coverage, you will usually see a deductible for this coverage (ex: $300, $500, $1,000).
This part of the policy provides coverage for rental car reimbursement, up to the limits shown on the Coverages Selections Page of your policy, if your auto was in a collision and is being repaired or replaced.
Towing & Labor
This part of your auto insurance policy provides coverage for auto towing and labor due to a breakdown even if there isn’t an accident. Coverage is up to the limit shown on the declaration page,
Bodily Injury Caused by an Underinsured Auto
This part of your policy provides coverage for medical expenses if you’re in an accident where the other driver is at fault and doesn’t have adequate insurance limits.
